JA New Brunswick Business Hall of Fame - Year Two
The 2016 Junior Achievement New Brunswick Business Hall of Fame will mark the 20th Anniversary of the induction ceremony. As part of the 20th Anniversary Celebrations, we’re taking a look back at the previous 19 events that brought us to year 20! This week we’re excited to venture back to 1998…Year Two!
In 1998, the New Brunswick Business Hall of Fame headed to Saint John, New Brunswick for the first time. CCL continued as the Presenting Partner for the 1998 Junior Achievement New Brunswick Business Hall of Fame. Three deserving Laureates were recognized, representing businesses like Eastern Securities, Manchester Robertson Allison and the Juniper Lumber Co. Ltd.
CLASS OF 1998
Bent W. Lockhart was born in the late 1800s. He and his sons developed their woodworking and lumber business into one of the largest and most distinguished businesses in the Atlantic region. Through his business and community involvements, Mr. Lockhart made great contributions to the Moncton and Maritime economy. Mr. Lockhart passed away October 30, 1944.
James A. MacMurray was President of Eastern Securities Limited, a pre-eminent financial advisor for businesses throughout New Brunswick and the maritimes. He also established and managed a number of successful businesses including Manchester Robertson Allison Limited, while serving as a director for a variety of Maritime companies.
J. Beverley O’Keefe is President & CEO of Juniper Lumber Co. Ltd., a forest rescue management company employing more than 800 New Brunswickers. Over a career spanning 47 years, he has built companies in the forest products, transportation and service industries, and served as a director for a variety of organizations.
